Who We Are

We work together so that everyone, everywhere, can experience God's love and our created purpose in Jesus.

Our Story

Our roots go back to 1941, where we were first founded as Avenue Road Church right in the heart of Toronto. For more than 35 years, the Avenue Road congregation grew both spiritually and numerically at its downtown location.

It was in 1970 where God gave Pastor Arnie Reimer a vision for a new church location. With an amazing opportunity to serve the growing and increasingly diverse population of the Greater Toronto Area, our first service was held in 1978 at the Bayview and Steeles campus. It was here that our congregation became known as Bayview Glen Church.

In 2018, we celebrated 40 years of impactful ministry. Here at Bayview Glen Church, we stand on the shoulders of the visionary, sacrificial leadership of those who came before us, and we continue to honour Jesus above all else - in everything we do.

Our Beliefs

  • The Trinity.

We believe there is one God, who is infinitely perfect, existing eternally in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is true God and true man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He died upon the cross, the Just for the unjust, as a substitutionary sacrifice, and all who believe in him are justified on the ground of his shed blood. He arose from the dead according to the Scriptures. He is now at the right hand of the Majesty on high as our great High Priest. He will come again to establish his Kingdom of righteousness and peace. The Holy Spirit is a divine Person, sent to indwell, guide, teach and empower the believer, and to convince the world of sin, of righteousness and of judgment.

  • Scripture.

The Old and New Testaments, inerrant as originally given, were verbally inspired by God and are a complete revelation of his will for the salvation of people. They constitute the divine and only rule of Christian faith and practice.

  • Salvation.

Salvation has been provided only through Jesus Christ. Those who repent and believe in him are united with Christ through the Holy Spirit and are thereby regenerated (born again), justified, sanctified and granted the gift of eternal life as adopted children of God.

  • Christian Life.

It is the will of God that in union with Christ each believer should be sanctified thoroughly thereby being separated from sin and the world and fully dedicated to God, receiving power for holy living and sacrificial and effective service toward the completion of Christ's commission. This is accomplished through being filled with the Holy Spirit which is both a distinct event and progressive experience in the life of the believer.

  • The Church.

The universal Church, of which Christ is the Head, consists of all those who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, are redeemed through His blood, regenerated by the Holy Spirit, and commissioned by Christ to go into all the world as a witness, preaching the Gospel to all nations. The local church, the visible expression of the universal Church, is a body of believers in Christ who are joined together to worship God, to observe the ordinances of Baptism and the Lord's Supper, to pray, to be edified through the Word of God, to fellowship, and to testify in word and deed to the good news of salvation both locally and globally.

  • Marriage.

God intended marriage to be a monogamous, life-long union. The Bible makes clear that God intended marriage to exist between one man and one woman for as long as both of them remain alive.

  • Final Judgement & New Beginnings.

There shall be a bodily resurrection of the just and of the unjust; for the former, a resurrection unto life; for the latter, a resurrection unto judgment. The second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ is imminent and will be personal and visible. As the believer’s blessed hope, this vital truth is an incentive for holy living and sacrificial service toward the completion of Christ's commission.

Our Values

Jesus first.

Jesus is first in our hearts, first in our homes, first in our worship, and first in our minds. He gets the first of our affections, effort, finances, and focus.

Colossians 1:15-23, Luke 9:23, Philippians 3:10-14

Everybody’s somebody.

No matter who you are, where you've come from, or what you've done - you have an eternal value because God made you in His image. Every person on the planet is loved and valued by God, and we seek to live out that value everyday.

Ephesians 2:10, Galatians 3:28, Genesis 1:26-28

Better together.

We were not created to live alone, we have been created for community. When we share life together, all of us get supported. We can do far greater things in a community than we can as individuals.

Romans 12:1-16, 1 Corinthians 12:12-26, 1 Peter 2:4-10, Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

Made new to renew.

Our salvation isn't just to go to heaven when we die; it's to bring heaven down into the here and now. We’ve been redeemed, renewed, and restored so that we can bring redemption, renewal, and restoration into our world. We see ourselves as agents of change to bring God's kingdom values into our neighbourhoods, cities, and our world.

Galatians 5:22-26, 2 Corinthians 5:16-21, Revelation 21:5

God gets our best.

In everything we do, we give our total effort because God is worthy of it. We don't expect perfection, but we give God the best of our time, talents, and treasures. We pursue excellence in every area of ministry that God has called us to.

1 Corinthians 10:31, Romans 12:1-2

God can do it.

We dream big dreams, cast big visions, and pray big prayers because ultimately, it's God who's in control, and he can do far more than we could ever ask or imagine!

Ephesians 3:20-21, Philippians 1:6, James 1:5

Our Vision

Our prayer is that God would use our church to transform individuals who transform our great city and then transform the world by putting
Jesus First in our lives, for our community and as we lead.
